On May 15th there was an update form UKA who (along with England Athletics) have been working with the Government to plan a return to activity following the lock-down period.
At the present time the Isle of Wight Athletic Club is not re-starting training sessions – or using the Track in Sandown.
However, the club committee are looking at ways to do this in the coming weeks safely – of course bearing in mind that the local council have responsibility for the track and the changing facilities.
The full advice is on the England Athletic website (Link) – IWAC will be using this to manage activity in the future. There have been a few questions already. Some coaches may already be working with these guidelines, unfortunately it is not available to every discipline or every member of the club due to the present guidance. NB this is at the coaches discretion and so will be initiated by coaches as and when they see fit. Of course valuable lessons are being learned on how to manage sessions going forward and it is likely to benefit us all as things return to a more normal status. Activity is not currently at the track / club house.
