The aim of the programme is to introduce more children into sportshall athletics and for them to enjoy the experience as much as possible. It also aims to foster a spirit of teamwork, so athletes will be required to participate in more than just their favourite events. Many of the children will be attempting these events for the first time, so some latitude should be given when scoring events. You will be instructed in the basic techniques and rules of the events prior to the event. You will also be given a written programe of events on receipt of your entry form.
After these two session are completed the athletes will be selected on their performances to form the Isle of Wight Sportshall Under 11 team .The Wight Widgets to compete in the regional final in Surrey University on February 10th 2018.
This will mean that the athletes selected will have to attend 3/4 training sessions on a Saturday afternoon in Nov/Dec/Jan at Sandown. You will be required to attend these sessions. We will be hopefully taking 3 Minibuses to cut our costs, the selected team members will be asked to pay towards their travel costs unless I can find more money and we will have your own Wight Widgets tee shirt which we will provide.
